In 1975, four men from London recorded a six-minute operatic rock song with no discernible structure, no traditional chorus, and a brief but extremely committed section in which someone is called Galileo repeatedly for reasons that have never been fully explained.
Radio stations said it was too long.
It became one of the best-selling singles in history.
Galileo himself - astronomer, physicist, father of modern science, house arrest survivor - had been dead for three hundred and thirty years by this point and had no comment.
